Big Bang Camper and Bus Show 2013

Held at Santa Pod Raceway the Big Bang Camper and Bus Show saw a magnificent number of Volkswagen campervans on display and it’s Motorhome Insurance was along for the ride.

Not only did we attend the show we were lucky enough to experience a vintage 1973 camper from behind the wheel! ‘Olive,’ as she is known to her owners from the Classic Car Club in London, was a delightful change to the normal driving involvement and, although a bit tough on the gears, once on the road she drove like a dream.

Completing the package, Olive comes equipped with all mod cons – even including an iPhone adapter!  The ‘living’ area for daytime use was sweet and included a sink, table, seating and a cooler box- which is handy for the hot summer drives!

For over-night stays on offer is a double bed made up from the seating – which, once laid out, is more than accommodating for two adults. Above, in the extended roof area, extra sleeping quarters can be made and the space is more than big enough for two children to sleep comfortably (almost like an adventure, if you ask us!)

There was an impressive array of campervans last weekend and the show was enjoyed by all. Split windows and bay windows were on show with their owners proudly displaying them. Can’t wait for next year already –but let’s hope April doesn’t bring it’s showers again!
