The 1-2-3 of buying a motorhome – what you need to know!
Guide to buying motorhomes and motorhome insurance advice
1. Do your homework! Read reviews; they can give you an understanding of what is out there and what is popular. Use the internet by joining forums; here you can ask other enthusiasts questions and discover hints and tips. Join a membership club; much like the forums, a membership club will offer advice as well as the added bonus of the prospect of cheaper motorhome insurance. Find out costing; know what you can spend and what you want for your money but be realistic.
2. Narrow down what you want. Know the size and the layout of the motorhome. Shortlist your personal preferences with style and models. Is the one you like adequate for what you want from it i.e. space, access, is it comfortable?
3. Are you looking to buy from a private seller? Check that the motorhome is registered on the V5C Registration Certificate. Think about what you would look for if purchasing a car, it works the same way; check service history, basic condition of the motorhome etc and do not be swayed by an excellent deal. Remember, if you buy a stolen motorhome or campervan from a dodgy man in a car park and it gets tracked down, you will lose every penny you paid and face prosecution! Regulated magazines often display genuine adverts over numerous pages whilst offers can be had at shows and of course motorhome dealers.
