Westfalia announce new Ford Transit Camper
Westfalia have announced the go ahead for a new campervan built on the new Ford Transit, that will be offered to British motorhome buyers very soon!
The plan is to coincide the new build with next year’s motorhome show at the NEC in February.
Currently the Westfalia is being built in left-hand drive exclusively for Ford which will sell it through its network of European dealers. Throughout Europe the German built campervan will be known as the Ford Nugget but in the UK it will be called the Westfalia Nugget and will be sold solely by
Westfalia’s only UK dealer, Roy Wood Transits, which is based in Berkshire.
As expected by Managing Director of Roy Wood Transits, Steve Wood, the 4.97m long vehicle will hit the dealer in 2014. In the long-term, according to Gotz Rutenkolk, head of sales and marketing for Westfalia, the ambition is to set up another five Westfalia dealers in England after next October’s NEC show.
The cab of the Nugget features twin swivel seats along with crash tested and approved benchseats on runners. Three full shoulder seatbelts make this a five-person, four-berth campervan. Inside you will find all the home comforts you would expect such as the fully equipped kitchenette, including sink, hob and a 42-litre fridge.
Making life on the road that little bit easier the Westfalia also comes with a 42-litre fresh water tank and a large waste water tank. Added to this are the two 95Ah leisure batteries that you will find.
The sleeping quarters for the Westfalia are provided by two double beds; one made up from the bench seat and the other from the fixed GRP roof which adds extra height making the overall camper stand at 2.8m.
As part of the purchase, UK buyers will benefit from a three year warranty that covers the base vehicle and a two year warranty that covers the conversion.
Expected prices are a little steep at just under the £50,000 mark but this has yet to be confirmed.
